Victoria & Albert Museum - London
The London Underground was the world’s first underground passenger line when it opened on 9 January 1863. Today we celebrate its 150th anniversary and are very proud to hold in our collections the original sketch diagram of the London Underground map, made by Harry Beck in 1931-33. All versions and imitations of the modern map derive from this first rough sketch. Available for viewing in the Prints and Drawings Study Room.
